Martinique – Project management assistance for the development of the Schoelcher coastal fringe
As part of the project to assist in the development of the coastal fringe of the city of Schoelcher, in Martinique, Ateliers 2/3/4/ had the pleasure of visiting the area for the second time to survey the site and propose an active and shared diagnosis.
This visit took place between land and sea, through thematic workshops with the City and the various partners, in order to summon collective intelligence to think about the future of the city with its users. During the visits at sea, the team was accompanied by photographer Henri Salomon, who helped us illustrate a sensitive approach to the area.
In the context of climate change, we need to measure the impact of the real risks to people, property and activities in coastal areas. We need to adapt the land, and propose developments that are domesticated rather than fought against.
To this end, the presence of water offers a multitude of urban, landscape and architectural responses.
Once again, we would like to thank the town of Schoelcher and its partners, in particular the DEAL, CTM, Agence des 50PasGéométriques, CACEM, BRGM, CAUE Martinique, Direction de la mer, Office de Tourisme Centre Martinique and Observatoire de l’eau for their hospitality and trust.
