Inauguration of the Passerelle des Louvresses 30 April 2024

On 30 April, the Louvresses footbridge in Gennevilliers was inaugurated by Sophie Guiroy-Meunier, Sub-Prefect of the Hauts-de-Seine department; Jean-Christophe Fromantin, Vice-President of the Hauts-de-Seine department in charge of road and waterway infrastructure; Yves Révillon, Vice-President in charge of the environment and non-school heritage; and Isabelle Massard, Deputy Mayor of Gennevilliers in charge of mobility, soft mobility and transport; Yves Révillon, Vice-President in charge of the environment and non-school heritage; Isabelle Massard, Deputy Mayor of Gennevilliers, in charge of mobility, soft traffic and transport; Nadia Mouaddine and Denis Datcharry, Departmental Councillors for the Gennevilliers canton.

In the presence of the Hauts-de-Seine department, Michèle Lamey, Service Maitrise d’Ouvrage, “Unité Infrastructures routières”, Olivier Cazenave, head of the road infrastructure unit – “direction des mobilités” and Jean-Baptiste Cueille, landscape designer – “direction des parcs, des paysages et de l’environnement”, project manager for the walking and cycling path.

Designed by WSP France/BG, Ateliers 2/3/4/ and Coup d’éclat, this structure is an integral part of the creation of a north-south green path between the Louvresses business district, which has around 6,000 jobs, and the Gennevilliers RER C station, as well as the Parc départemental des Chanteraines.
This walking and cycling path requires a 70-metre span over the A86 without any intermediate support.
The major challenge is to protect users from the immediate environment of the A86 motorway and the SNCF railway line, and to provide a feeling of safety and relative isolation throughout the crossing.

The design of the footbridge is based on three main principles: defining a 4 m wide protective envelope created by a canopy-like mesh, treating the walkway as a “cocoon” separate from the structure, and finally designing a profile with a very taut arch to reinforce the crossing’s image.

Treated in UHPC (ultra-high performance fibre-reinforced concrete), the deck and railings are combined in a single continuous shape, like a protective shell or cocoon. The cocoon extends beyond the structural envelope to support the movement of users.

We are delighted to present this project to you and to see this itinerary and footbridge brought into service.
