ATHLETICA (ex-CDFAS), the new Val d’Oise High Performance Sports Centre, was inaugurated on Thursday 13 June 2024 in Eaubonne by M. Patrick Karam, Vice-President of the Ăle-de-France Region, Ms Marie-Christine Cavecchi, President of the Val d’Oise Department and Mr Xavier Haquequin, Departmental Councillor for Olympism and Paralympism and President of Athletica. Xavier HAQUIN, Departmental Councillor for Olympism and Paralympism and President of Athletica, in the presence of Ms Marie-JosĂ© Beaulande, Mayor of Eaubonne, elected representatives and athletes.
The inauguration was also marked by a visit from Ms Denise Campbell Bauer, the US Ambassador to France, as Athletica is due to welcome Team USA this summer, made up of 1,200 athletes and coaches.
Designed by Ateliers 2/3/4/, the project to rebuild the Centre dĂ©partemental de formation et d’animations sportives is based on the desire to provide an architectural and urban response to reveal the identity of the new facility on the site and in the public space.
The project includes a training centre, a medical and sports centre, a 100-bedroom accommodation centre and a restaurant. The building, bathed in natural light, folds into 4 segments of a continuous volume, each of which is open to its direct environment.
The materials used highlight the project’s environmental ambitions. The use of wood on all the façades, both for their structures and their cladding, is a way of showcasing the regional timber industry. The use of bio-sourced and re-used materials has helped to generate short, low-carbon supply chains during the construction phase.
Spread over 7 hectares, the ATHLETICA facilities are adapted to the needs of 23 Olympic disciplines and will welcome 250,000 users a year.
Many thanks to all those involved in the project and to the Ateliers 2/3/4/ team: Christine Edeikins, Honorary Associate Architect, Eric Puzenat, Associate Architect, Camille Bonfils, Fabienne Garrigues, Josselin CABARET, Enrique Gil Gomez, arnaud tallon, Clément ARNAUD.
