Furniture & signage for the research facility of Université Paris 8, an organic third place, Saint-Denis (93)
At the heart of the Maison De La Recherche of the Université Paris 8, a collaborative work place has been set up, consisting of a large, bright space, looking out on the outdoor spaces.
The structured architecture contrasts with free, natural, flexible forms that take in the flow of students and researchers freely and gently.
Benches and cocoons are made of rattan, an organic, flexible material that accompanies the moving forms.
A game of interlocking between the cocoons makes it possible to offer both intimacy inside while giving different views of the surrounding space.
The place offers multiple uses, allowing users to settle to work with a laptop on long sinuous benches, or in the cocoons to make a phone call, organise appointments or arrange small informal meetings between researchers and PhD students. It becomes a space for meeting, research and collective emulation.
